Help the Kennet - by saving on water bills
Environmental group Action for the River Kennet (ARK) is launching a new campaign called Get Waterfit for 2015 to help householders save money on metered water and energy bills.
The scheme is already underway in Marlborough, Wiltshire, where around 25 per cent of homes have had free water-saving devices fitted.
ARK calculates a family of four could save more than £180 per year on metered water and energy bills by taking advantage of a free visit, offered in partnership with Thames Water.
A spokeswoman for ARK, Charlotte Hitchmough, said: “Hungerford is a town with waterways at its heart. The Rivers Kennet and Dun and the Kennet and Avon Canal are central to the town’s landscape.
“Using less water will leave the rivers healthier and better able to support the wildlife we all enjoy. Hungerford residents could also save money on metered water and energy bills at the same time.”
To have the latest water-saving devices, including efficient showerheads, kitchen tap aerators and dual-flush toilet converters, fitted for free, call 0800 358 6665 quoting ‘Kennet’.
