Help to honour Lambourn's WWII fallen
Villager Carol Silk is seeking background information on the men listed as Lambourn’s sons lost in the great conflict.
She said: “As 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of the war, we’re looking for information on the names of the fallen from that conflict who are listed on our village war memorial.
“We would appreciate any information about relatives or friends of the families of these men who fought and died in this war as we will be having an exhibition to include photographs and memorabilia in St Michael and All Angels Church over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
“We’re also looking for information on local men who fought in and survived this conflict.”
The exhibition aims to repeat the success of one staged last year to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.
The names of the Second World War fallen on Lambourn’s war memorial are: James Ainsworth; John Baker; William Brind; Peter Clarke; Desmond Crease; Arthur Fisher; Gerald Goddard; Harry Handy; Alfred Hearnden; John McKenny; Walter Mitchell; Thomas Page; Charles Peters; Frederick Purton; Edward Taylor; William Taylor; John Walsh; Sydney Wells; Peter Wood and Raymond Worthington.
