Henderson back on top!
Long Run comes good for top Lambourn trainer
TOP Lambourn trainer Nicky Henderson was celebrating today after Long Run won the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The victory means that Sam Waley-Cohen, son of owner Robert, is the first amateur jockey in 30 years to win the race.
The six-year-old ended a bad week on a high for Mr henderson after the debacle over Binocular, withdrawn from the festival after medication failed to clear his sytem on time.
Mr Henderson told reporters: "Long Run is a very good young horse. And I'll add this: Long Run made a pretty bad jumping mistake on the final circuit and managed to shrug it off well enough to win, so maybe prices of 6-1 about him winning this again next year are worth considering."
