Here’s how to sponsor a duck in the Newbury Duck Race 2025, organised by Newbury Lions, which takes place on Sunday, May 25

May is proving to be a busy month for Newbury Lions.

The group supported the town’s VE Day commemorations in Victoria Park last week, before getting all their ducks in a row for the annual charity race.

The much loved duck race will be taking place on Sunday, May 25.

In total, 1,000 yellow plastic ducks will be launched into the River Kennet opposite The Lock, Stock and Barrel pub.

They will be cheers all the way to the finish line at Victoria Park.

As always, there are cash prizes for the sponsors of the winning three ducks.

To get involved in this quacking great race you just need to grab a ticket from The Lock Stock and Barrel or The Ugly Duckling Pottery.

Tickets will also be on sale in Newbury town centre over the next bank holiday weekend – May 24 and May 25. Just look out for a lion and a duck!

And then hot on the heels of the duck race will be the Lions’ Speen Fete, which is being held on Saturday, June 7.

The popular event gives charities and small businesses a platform to advertise their services and this year, there’s a new surprise planned.

In collaboration with Visit Newbury, it involves some high-powered cars of Italian origin… but organisers have promised to share more details later!

Newbury Lions are always on the look out for like-minded people to help them organise and deliver these fun community events.

The proceeds from them are used to support local people in need.
