Prior’s Court CEO steps down after final fundraising challenge
Prior’s Court’s CEO of eight years has stepped down after completing one final fundraising challenge.
Mike Robinson, the outgoing CEO of the Hermitage-based autism charity, was cheered across the finish line at the end of his epic 60-mile fundraiser in Newbury’s Victoria Park last Friday (June 30).
After walking 60 miles along the Kennet & Avon Canal from Bath to Newbury in four days, Mr Robinson smashed his fundraising target of £5,000, all in aid of the charity’s proposed new performing arts centre.
Fittingly, a group of six Prior’s Court pupils and staff members were ready to greet Mr Robinson at the finish line.
“I do enjoy a good walk, but the scale of this challenge was something else, and in humid, sticky weather too,” said Mr Robinson after completing his challenge.
“But what kept me going was the incredible young people at Prior’s Court, their families and staff members.
“Thinking about these amazing people and receiving supportive messages along the way gave me a boost when I needed it most.”
But Mr Robinson was not alone in his endeavour.
Staff and supporters of Prior’s Court were invited to “Hike with Mike” and clock up 60 miles across June.
Teams raised close to £500 for the appeal, with a huge amount being raised by staff at Newbury telecommunications service provider, Gamma.
Speaking about his time as the charity’s CEO, Mr Robinson added:
“It has been the most rewarding job of my career and this challenge, and finishing it alongside an incredible group of young people, truly topped it off.”
Mr Robinson thanks everyone who has supported his fundraiser.
