Here’s which roads to steer clear of if you want to avoid roadworks this month
Villagers are being warned of road closures that could affect their journeys later this month.
Back Lane, between Stanford Dingley and Bradfield, will be shut during the day between July 19 and July 30.
It will be closed between its junction with Mariners Lane and Ashampstead Road, between 7am and 5pm.
Briff Lane and Little Lane, in Bucklebury will be shut from the junction of Burntbush Lane to the junction of Little Lane.
The closure will be in place from 7am until 7pm from July 21 until August 1.
Both closures are to allow Volker Highways to undertake surface dressing of the carriageway on behalf of West Berkshire Council.
The council said it did not expect the roads to be shut for the entire length of the closure orders, but they were allowing for weather conditions causing delays.
Diversions will be in place during both road closures.
The Bradfield roadworks come as closures continue on Ashampstead Road until November while work is undertaken on one of the buildings at Bradfield College.
The private school is undertaking a major project to replace the roof of one of its boarding houses, with the work resulting in the road from the main crossroads by the college up to the River Pang, being closed for most of 2025.
