Hermitage pub customers help send boy to Disneyland
Jack Dunn (pictured with his family), of Hermitage Green, was diagnosed with a brain tumour several years ago and last year, the landlord at the White Horse of Hermitage, Neil Denton, led a fundraising effort to send Jack and his family on a holiday.
On Wednesday (April 11) Jack, his sisters Katie, aged eight, and Jenny, aged six, and his mother, Pam, were taken to the airport by taxi to start their four-day holiday.
To raise the funds for the trip, Mr Denton and a friend took part in a sponsored 110-mile bike ride in one day in September, from Leicester back to Hermitage.
Various raffles and other fundraising events were held at the pub for the Dunn family holiday.
Mr Denton said: “When I spoke to Jack he said he would love a holiday.
“Pam said that he had always been too poorly in the past for a holiday.”
He added: “I’m ecstatic that he got there. I’m pleased we achieved that. I want to thank all the people who supported us in making this little boy's dream come true.”
