HGV driver fined for breaching A329 weight restrictions

A HGV driver has been fined for breaking weight restrictions on a railway bridge.

Last July, a Public Protection Partnership (PPP) road traffic enforcement officer observed an Iveco HGV travel through Skew Bridge on the A329 at Basildon with a maximum gross weight of 18 tonnes – the weight restriction is 7.5 tonnes.

The driver pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates' Court on March 17. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay a £100 contribution towards the prosecution costs and £80 victim surcharge.
