High praise for Francis Baily boys reaching semi-finals of Bill Mac Cup
A primary school in Thatcham has praised its pupils for their success in a football tournament.
Francis Baily’s Years 5 and 6 boys are through to the semi-finals of the Bill Mac Cup.
The school says the boys fought hard in the quarter finals away against Basildon.
The won 3-1 with fantastic finishes from Leo Jenkins scoring twice and James Fuell once.
Tyler Flippance and Noah Shaw both stepped up and played half a game each as goalkeeper due to unfortunate sickness.
Francis Baily said the boys controlled possession and were particularly strong on the counterattack.
“I’m over the moon for this group of boys,” said football coach Sam Adnams.
“They have shown extreme commitment to make it this far into the cup, and it is fantastic.
“Thank you for the continued support from parents as all our games so far have been away games.
“I look forward to the next round.”
The school has given a “huge well done” to all the boys Leo Jenkins, Henry Brown, Tyler Flippance, Hakeem Contah, Benjamin Shelton, James Fuell, Noah Shaw and Harry Taylor.
And to Mr Adnams for coaching them this far into their cup journey.
The semi-final will be played at the beginning of February against Falkland Primary School.
