Highclere Castle fair helps air ambulance keep flying
Visitors could also browse an array of stalls laden with Christmas gift ideas and also explore the castle grounds.
A spokesman for Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust, Robert Downham, said that Lord and Lady Carnarvon were “proud supporters and patrons” of the charity, that was chosen each year as the beneficiary to the proceeds of the fair.
Berkshire fundraising manager for the trust, Katie Whelpdale, said: “Events such as this raise vital awareness for the air ambulance and we must express our sincerest thanks to Lord and Lady Carnarvon for their continued support and friendship.
“A huge thank you must also go to all of the castle staff for their warmth and hospitality and, of course, to all the visitors who donated generously to the charity.”
With an average air ambulance mission cost of £2,500, the £6,623 will go a long way in helping the charity to keep the air ambulance operational and continue saving lives.
Tickets for the Christmas fair went within a day and next year’s spring and Easter openings at the castle already sold out.
