Highclere Game and Country Fair proves a crowd puller
According to the organisers, Countryman Fairs, visitor numbers at the 16th fair were expected to have exceeded those of previous years figures of 28,000, with entry tickets still being counted on Monday (May 28), after glorious weather pulled in the crowds:
“The ‘jewel of the southern counties’ Highclere, offered a fantastic showcase that kept both families and sporting types thoroughly entertained,” said Danielle Derry, a spokeswoman for Countryman Fairs, adding:
“From the Mitsubishi Motors World Series Clay Shooting and Gundog Championships to the prestigious Skinner’s International Retriever World Cup, the event and its various sporting competitions provided only a small slice of the weekend’s activities.”
New this year was the Game Goer Gundog display and a Simulated Coursing Display, the Reading Scottish Pipe Band, a hunt and hound parade and Kuchina Johnson Equine Spanish Classical Dressage.
