Highclere's Yew Tree pub gets sold after months on market
Chief Executive Officer of Cirrus Inns, Alexander Langlands Pearse, aged 41, confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) the company had recently purchased the property- previously Marco Pierre White’s Yew Tree Inn - to add to an extensive portfolio of similar properties.
“The company buy and invest in iconic country freehold pubs,” said Mr Langlands Pearse.
Interviews, he continued were currently taking place to establish a new landlord at the Yew Tree which was to close on Monday (August 13) for refurbishment for approximately one month.
On re-opening, most likely in the first, or second week of September, he continued, the Yew Tree would retain its name and was to remain as a country pub and restaurant, serving local clientele and sourcing food supplies locally:
“The main thing we will be doing is re-opening the garden - it’s been shut for years,” he said, adding neighbours had been re-assured in advance there would be no noisy parties until the early hours of the morning to disturb their sleep.
“We are going to be very careful on this, regarding neighbours,” he said
A former sewage problem at the pub, previously regarded as, he said: “A big bone of contention,” had been resolved and all necessary planning applications for any alterations granted.
The pubs’ previous owner, former Michelin-starred chef, Marco Pierre White, who used the Yew Tree as the location for his 2008 television series, Marco’s Great British Feast, was unavailable for comment on the sale, as the NWN went to press.
In April, Cirrus Inns bought the Dundas Arms in Station Road, Kintbury, for an undisclosed amount. Cirrus was co-founded by Mr Langlands Pearse, together with former Gordon Ramsey HoldIngs (GRH) executive head chef, Mark Askew.
