Himalayan trek for carer inspired by her client
Adriana Latacz will risk altitude sickness and endure temperatures of minus ten degrees while climbing to 16,000ft in the three-week venture.
She will be raising money for the Spinal Research charity.
Miss Latacz was inspired by David Stirland, who broke his neck in a championship motocross accident.
The 35-year-old, who has been Mr Stirland’s carer for the past five years, said: “Having been in his wheelchair for 28 years now, David remains an extremely positive, active person, always ready to help and support others - a true inspiration.
“The trip involves walking long distances in a high attitude. Conditions will be very basic and there will be no facilities or electricity. I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m determined to succeed.”
She added: “I would like to emphasise that I have covered all the cost of the trip, as well as required equipment, myself. So all the money raised will be going directly to Spinal Research.”
Miss Latacz will set off on November 3.
Mr Stirland, who worked as an administrator for many years at the family Ford dealership, Peter Stirland Ltd., has sponsored her himself and said: “I hope she has a great trip - I would love to do it.”
Mr Stirland’s friends at the Fox and Hounds Motocross Circuit in Newbury are also helping to raise sponsorship.

She said: “Every donation, no matter how big or small, will be appreciated.”
