Lord Iliffe will open the fete at 1pm. Visitors will then be able to enjoy a range of traditional exhibits, games, food and crafts stalls, bric-a-brac, local ales, produce and plants.

This year’s event will see the return of the Dog Show, popular with the adults and children alike.

And performances by the Newbury Ukulele Town Strummers, acoustic band One Lump or Two and singing duo Scampy along with traditional Morris dancing and maypole dancing will feature throughout the day.

A baking competition is also planned. Adults can bake a Victoria sponge and children aged 11 and under can bake a cake with an animal theme.

The usual attractions including egg throwing, a bouncy castle and Punch and Judy are also returning.

Plenty of food and drink options will be available including a hog roast, BBQ, Pimm’s stall. The Royal Oak, The Pantry and Yattendon Village Stores will also open.

With its origins rooted in the Middle Ages, the traditional English fete draws families from across the region and raises money for local charities. The event raised more than £27,000 for local causes last year.
