SHAW House visitors can watch men and women training to use the weapons of the English Civil War today (Saturday).

Members of the Sealed Knot, a national society of volunteers who aim to bring the 17th century civil war to life, will be training to use muskets, swords and pikes, while there will also be 17th century music and dancing inside the house.

Meanwhile, on the Bank Holiday Weekend in May, hundreds of soldiers are set to descend on Newbury Showground for a re-enactment of the Second Battle of Newbury.
