Coronavirus West Berkshire: Confirmed cases as of January 27
Fri, 12 Jun 2015
COMPTON Church of England Primary School is closed today (Fri) due to flooding.
The school said it hoped to reopen on Monday and has apologised to parents for any inconvenience caused.
Yesterday afternoon, fire crews from Newbury were called to reports of flooding at the school.
When they arrived they found water leaking through a ceiling into a classroom below, close to electrics.
Firefighters cut all the power in the school while they cleared the worst of the water.
A statement on the school's website said: "School is closed today due to a flood in Elm class; consequently we have no power or water. Hopefully we will be back to normal on Monday 15th June.
"We will keep parents advised via school comms and the website. We do apologise for any inconvenience – we do realise how difficult such situations are for parents and do our utmost to avoid closures if we possibly can."
