Gorse fire at Greenham Common extinguished




Passer by alerts fire service after spotting smoke

Newbury firefighters were called to a reported gorse fire on Greenham Common this morning (Saturday).

One pump from Newbury was called at 7.30am, following a report of smoke, spotted by a passer by, coming from an area next to the control tower.

Firefighters discovered a pile of smoldering ashes, from a large amount of gorse, which had been cut back and burnt.

Firefighters left the scene at 7.45am
