Newbury Weekly News nominated for prestigious national award

In final shortlist for weekly newspaper of the year category at the 2016 newsawards

THE Newbury Weekly News has been shortlisted in the weekly newspaper of the year category at the prestigious newsawards 2016.

It will be up against the Chichester Observer, Retford Times, The Cumberland News, The Essex Chronicle, The Oxford Times and The Scarborough News at the awards ceremony on April 27 at the London Lancaster Hotel, Hyde Park.

The Newbury Weekly News has also been shortlisted in the regional newspaper of the year category at the same awards for the third year in a row.

It will compete with Archant Print, Discovery Print, Interpress NI, Mortons Print, Newsquest Glasgow and Portsmouth Web Offset.

The Newbury Weekly News won the print innovation of the year category at the 2015 newsawards.

Newbury News Limited chief executive James Gurney said: “Winning awards is nowhere near as important to us as our relationship with our readers and advertisers. But to be recognised by our industry peers as one of the best publishers in the UK is certainly a nice feeling.”
