Police are appealing for witnesses after a van struck the back of a house in Hermitage this morning (Saturday).
At around 3.30am at Hampstead Norrey's Road fire crews from Newbury and police were called to the scene of a white Ford Transit Van which had crashed into the back of a building.
When fire crews and Thames Valley Police arrived they found that two occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene.
Thames Valley Police spokesperson Gareth Ford-Lloyd said: "We were called at 3.30am. A van had been abandoned after crashing into a house on Hampstead Norrey's Road.
"The caller reported two men running away. No one was arrested, investigation is ongoing.
"Anyone with information should call 101."
Pumps from Newbury and Dee Road fire stations were also called and attended the scene but left after finding the driver had fled.
On returning to Newbury, the pump from Newbury fire station went on to attend a separate incident at a home in Thatcham.
A small fire, thought to have been caused by unattended cooking, had broken out and one elderly lady was rescued and treated at the scene by South Central Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.
There were no other injuries.
