Burghfield diver wins Olympic Gold




Chris Mears tastes glory in Rio

BURGHFIELD's Chris Mears and his partner Jack Laugher have won Great Britain's first ever Olympic gold at diving.

Mears, a former pupil at Garlands Junior School in Burghfield Common, and Laugher, led from the end of round three and held their composure to secure gold.

The pair scored 454.32 from their six dives. The United States took silver while China took bronze.
