CELEBRATIONS to mark the Hindu Festival of Lights are set to take place at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday (November 5).

Diwali takes place every autumn, with the local celebrations, organised by the West Berkshire Indian Society, being held on Saturday, November 5.

Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness.

Mega Diwali 2016 will feature a lamp lighting, cultural and Bollywood dance performances and music, followed by an Indian buffet dinner and a Bollywood disco.

Guests include Newbury MP Richard Benyon and the mayor of Newbury, Julian Swift-Hook.
