Festival of Light lantern procession returns on Sunday

Skies of Newbury to be lit by hundreds of lanterns

THE skies of Newbury will be lit up by hundreds of lanterns this Sunday as the popular Festival of Light Lantern Procession returns to the town for the seventh successive year.

The spectacle starts to unfold from 4pm, when the lantern bearers meet and begin to light their lamps.

The main procession then starts at 4.30pm from Northbrook Street and travels on to the Market Place.

The free event is organised by Newbury’s Corn Exchange theatre and funded by Greenham Common Trust and Arts Council England.

It is now a regular part of the Corn Exchange's annual outdoor arts programme of events.
