There is a string of festive events across West Berkshire today with the main attraction likely to be Newbury's annual Festival of Light.

The streets of Newbury will be lit up by the warm glow hundreds of lanterns on Sunday as the popular lantern procession returns to the town for the seventh successive year.

The spectacle starts to unfold from 4pm, when the lantern bearers meet and begin to light their lamps with the main procession then starts at 4.30pm from Northbrook Street and travels on to the Market Place.

Elsewhere there will be Civic Carol Service from 4pm at St Mary’s Church, Church Gate in Thatcham.

The Pete Allen Jazz Band will be performing at the Regency Park Hotel Thatcham from 3.00pm  - tickets at the door £12.50 (Cash only)

While the Cromwell Singers present ‘Music for a Winter’s Day’, a fundraising concert for church funds at The Majendie Hall, Speen at 2.30pm.  Tickets cost £7.50 and include refreshments.  Tickets available on the door.
