Hospital catering gets top rating
West Berkshire Community Hospital has received a five star top rating for its food hygiene practices
PATIENTS at the West Berkshire Community Hospital can expect to be well fed after its catering facilities recently received a top rating for the third year running by West Berkshire Council's environmental health officers.
In an unannounced visit in December, the organisation scored the five star top rating for its food hygiene practices.
Hospital matron, Sue Bishop, said: "We're delighted to get five stars for food hygiene once again.
"Food hygiene is always important but in a hospital even more so.
"This is a great result for us."
Contract manager for SGP Property and Facilities Management, which runs all the catering facility at the hospital, Ifor Sheldon, said: "This award shows that we've been providing a high quality service to the patients, visitors and staff at the hospital and we hope to continue to do so for many years to come."
