House blaze in Mortimer Common

Firefighters tackled a house blaze in Mortimer Common yesterday (Thursday).

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Theale, Wokingham Road, Wokingham, Ascot and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene in The Street at 5.04pm, alongside an aerial ladder platform and three officers.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a house on fire.

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used three hose reels, a main jet and the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.

Crews were at the scene for approximately four hours and 40 minutes before returning this morning to check for hotspots.
