Daniel Black from Thatcham jailed for Donnington house break-in
A MAN has been jailed for a house burglary.
Daniel Black, who was living at Westfield Road in Newbury, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, June 3.
The 47-year-old broke into a home in the Donnington area of Newbury while the occupants were out.
A window was smashed and watches, jewellery, more than £5,000 in cash and debit cards were stolen.
In May 2023, police found Black’s DNA on a knife at the property and he was arrested in August of that year.
He was jailed for two years and four months.
Black also has numerous previous convictions.
After the sentencing, Det Con Daniel Pullen, of Berkshire West’s Priority Crime Team, said: “Burglary is a serious acquisitive crime that greatly affects our communities and can have a lasting impact on victims.
“This conviction is the result of the hard work of the priority crime team in Newbury and marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and reduce crime in the area.
“I’m glad that Thames Valley Police we able to provide some closure for the victims and give our local communities reassurance that we are committed to tackling such crime.
“This conviction and sentence reflects the severity and seriousness with which these offences are taken, and is a warning that these type of offences will not be tolerated.”
