The 42-year-old, of the Two Saints Hostel in Newtown Road, Newbury, admitted entering a home in Wessex Close, Hungerford, on Friday, May 12, and stealing a Gucci bag, a Louis Vuitton wallet, a silver pocket watch, £300 in cash, a passport, a Samsung S20 phone and a Citizen wrist watch of unknown value.

Mr Solly, who has previously lived in Speen and in Thatcham, has numerous previous convictions.

Magistrates declined further jurisdiction and sent the matter to Reading Crown Court to be sentenced by a judge on a date to be fixed.

Mr Solly was meanwhile denied bail and was remanded in custody.
