Multiple crews sent to fight house fire in Thatcham
A large fire has destroyed the roof of a semi-detached house in Thatcham.
Crews across Berkshire and Hampshire responded to a fire in Hartmead Road at 5.53pm yesterday (Monday), which had spread to the neighbouring property.
Eight firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two main jets and two hose reels to put out the blaze.
An aerial ladder platform, water carrier and an Incident Command Unit were also deployed to the scene.
There have been no reports of any casualties.
Firefighters stayed at the scene for approximately four hours and 57 minutes.
Two crews from Newbury later returned to reinspect the scene, where they found a small amount of carpet smouldering.
They used one hose reel to dampen it down.
