House of Cards reacts to win in Newbury Weekly News and Thatcham Town Council best dressed Christmas window competition
House of Cards has reacted to winning this year’s best dressed window for a third year running.
They received the most votes in the annual competition run by Thatcham Town Council and the Newbury Weekly News.
The card shop, based in the Kingsland Centre in Thatcham, was presented with an award from the NWN and mayor of Thatcham Mark Lillycrop on Tuesday (December 20).
Store manager Sian Faulkner said: “It is a nice surprise really, that this many people support us and come in regularly.
“It is just nice to get involved with the community as a whole, work together and see what we can present to represent the company as a whole.”
This year the theme for businesses taking part was ‘A Sustainable Christmas’.
She added: “It was more of a challenge this year as a lot of our wrappers have glitter and non-sustainable things on them but a lot of our companies this year have promoted non-cellophane and other sustainable aspects.
“So it is about trying to incorporate those and promote the products that fit with the theme suitably.”
She added: “It was a team effort.
“I like how it’s like a reward for the girls that I work with as it is a reflection of their hard work.”
