Housing site hearings reconvene today
West Berkshire Council's core housing strategy will come under scrutiny at Shaw House this week
THE examination of West Berkshire Council's core strategy is to resume today (Monday).
A series of hearings will take place at Shaw House this week, led by planning inspector Simon Emerson, who is currently examining the council's core housing strategy to 2026, which includes the Local Development Framework (LDF) that sets out where 10,500 homes could be built in the district by 2026.
An eight-day examination of the core strategy was previously held in November 2010, although the council and the planning inspector agreed to suspend the examination afterwards to enable the council to consider the matters that were discussed.
But now, the examination is set to resume with several topics up for discussion among the council, developers and other interested parties.
The topics that will be discussed include the Atomic Weapons Establishment and Health and Safety Executive consultation zones, the overall housing provision, distribution and delivery, the urban areas within the district and economic and business development, among other things.
The first session starts today at 1.30pm, while other sessions this week are due to begin at 10am tomorrow (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday.
