How did you celebrate the start of 2013?
In Newbury town centre, people in costumes headed to parties at pubs including Document House in Wharf Street, The Diamond Tap in Cheap Street, The Newbury in Bartholomew Street, Allsorts cafe / bar in London Road, the Hogs Head, Market Place and The Canal Bar, also in market Place.
Document House encouraged people to come along in a variety of costumes and manager, Sidney Rosa, said that not having tickets this year worked in their favour.
He said: "It was really good.
"Newbury seemed a bit quiet but we had a good time.
"A lot of people came dressed up - it was an anything goes fancy dress party so we didn't have a theme.
"We had such a mixture of costumes.
"It was a really good evening."
Customers at The Newbury helped the pub celebrate its first New Year in business by wearing masks to the celebrations.
Licensee, Peter Lumber, said that it did not matter that they were not at full capacity as they hoped to build on the success this year.
He said: "It went really well, we were busy.
Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"Everybody made a big effort with their masks - that's definitely something we want to carry on next year with hopefully even more extravagant masks."
Newbury Street Pastors were out and about from about 10.30pm until 3.30am.
Pastor co-ordinator, Deborah Arden-Hunt, said that as part of their role they handed out more than 100 lollipops, one space blanket, 14 pairs of flip-flops and about a dozen bottles of water to revellers.
Despite all of this she said that it had been quite a quiet evening and added: “There were lots of merry, happy people.
“There were a couple of cases of aggression but the majority of people were lovely.
“It was just a very lovely evening in the fact that everybody was so merry.”
