Huge crowds attend opening night of Newbury's Ablaze fire extravaganza
The extravaganza, run by The Corn Exchange as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, saw the Kennet and Avon Canal transformed into a magical world of fire and music.
There were queues all the way back to the swing bridge from the church as excited families waited to catch a glimpse of the show.
As night fell, guests attending were treated to a display of flickering braziers on the canal, as well as fire artists, giant fire horns, spinning fire vortexes and a variety of music.
Among those artists performing at the event, which is funded by the Greenham Common Trust and Arts Council, were acoustic act Spiro and cellist Emily Burridge.
But don’t worry if you missed it, the free event is also being held this evening and tomorrow night.
Those wishing to join the spectacle can do so from 8.15pm, with the last admission at 10pm – and the first 30 minutes is reserved for families.
The arrival point is West Mills Swing Bridge, from where guests are invited to take a stroll down the canal towards Victoria Park for a sparkling fire finale.
