Hundreds affected by Burghfield Common power cut

Southern Electric investigating as power causes continued disruption across Burghfield Common

A POWER cut has caused disruption to hundreds of properties across Burghfield Common today (Monday).

Southern Electric has confirmed it is investigating after power supplies to 300 properties were cut this morning, leading to the closure of Willink Leisure Centre, Hollybush Lane, and the Willink school, in School Lane.

Both will remain closed until further notice.

A spokeswoman for Southern Electric, Samantha O'Connor, said at 11am today: "We would like to apologise to the residents of Burghfield Common who are currently affected by the interruption to the supplies.

"Our engineers have identified two faults on our high voltage network. As restoring supplies is our priority, we have arranged for mobile generators to be connected to the network and supplies will be restored for 2pm."

A notice on the Willink school website has stated that it is not contactable by phone and that the prize giving ceremony scheduled for tonight has been cancelled until further notice.
