Hundreds hop to village's Easter event
People got on their marks for the Egg Olympics, which included egg and spoon races, racing the Easter Bunny, the potentially gooey egg roulette where people had to try and avoid choosing a soft egg to slam into their forehead, and egg catching with one egg being caught after being lobbed a distance at 22 meters.
There was also an Easter egg hunt, an Easter bonnet competition judged by the Rev Lucy Heyn, a name the bunny competition, which was dubbed Tufty, a petting zoo, rides on Bertie the pony and a chance to climb aboard diggers and tractors.
The event, now in its third year, has raised more than £700 so far for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in memory of Belinda Harding-Perry who died from the disease last year.
Member of the organising committee, Toni Kent, said: “People came through and we had lots of support from across the community and everyone came together. I think we will do it again next year as it’s become a bit of the feature.”
Mrs Kent will be taking part in the London Moonwalk marathon, May 10, with her friends, who form the Compton Crackers, to raise further funds for breast cancer charities.
