Hundreds to Race for Life to support life-changing cancer research at Newbury Racecourse this weekend
Around 500 people will Race for Life to raise money towards life-changing cancer research in Newbury this Sunday (June 15).
There is still time to sign up to walk, jog or run in Cancer Research UK’s 5k and 10k Race for Life events at Newbury Racecourse.
At 9.45am, the 10k participants will take part in a mass-warm up before setting off around the course at 10am.
Those joining the 5k will complete their warm-up and hear stories from people affected by cancer around 10.45am before the klaxon is fired at 11am.
Cancer Research UK spokesperson for the South East Elisa Mitchell said: “Every pound raised supports our life-saving work, which has helped double cancer survival in the UK over the last 50 years.
“Sadly, nearly one in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime and in the South East, 55,800 people are diagnosed with the disease every year. But all of us can support the research that will beat it.”
Everyone is invited to run, whether they are living with cancer or taking part in memory of a loved one with cancer.

More than 10 million people have taken part in Race for Life since it began in 1994, raising millions of pounds every year to enable scientists to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
