Power cut affecting hundreds of homes in Newbury as Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks say engineers are fixing the problem for RG14 postcodes




UPDATE: 10.25pm - A number of properties remain without power tonight, as engineers continue to try to fix the fault.

Electricity returned to some places within an hour of going off earlier this evening, but 31 postcodes still have an outage after more than five hours.

SSEN has said it hopes to have power restored by 2.30am.

A POWER cut is currently affecting a large part of Newbury town centre.

The electricity outage is also having a knock on effect on road users as traffic lights have also gone out on Hambridge Road and Faraday Road.

Homes and businesses in more than 230 RG14 postcodes are currently without power, after it went off around 5.15pm.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has said that its engineers are on site dealing with the issues and they hope to have power restored by around 8.30pm.
