Hungerford council by-election hustings tonight (Weds)
Local people will be able to put questions to the by-elections candidates at a hustings from 7.30pm to 9pm, at Hungerford Town Hall.
Town mayor Martin Crane said: “It has been arranged to enable each of the candidates for this important role for our town to present their platform and answer questions from the floor on matters of local and district interest.
“I am looking forward to chairing this session – the only opportunity for Hungerford to assess the qualities of our next district councillor to fill the vacancy left following the sad loss of David Holtby. I hope that the electorate will respond enthusiastically to this invitation to attend.”
The four candidates are Denise Gaines (Lib Dem), James Podger (Con), Gary Puffett (Lab) and Andrew Stott (United People’s Party).
The by-election will take place on Thursday, August 15. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm at the Town Hall, High Street, and Croft Hall, The Croft.
