Hungerford hosts AONB produce show

To mark the occasion on the day, the town will host the one-off, Bountiful Landscape Market.
There will be plenty of stalls offering tastings of local foods and beer, stalls of local produce, demonstrations of local crafts, competitions, a raffle and an opportunity to learn more about the AONB and the work that it does to protect and enhance the area.
AONB spokeswoman Deb Lester-George said: “The North Wessex Downs AONB covers 1,730 square kilometers or 668 square miles, straddles the boundaries of four counties and is considered so precious a landscape, whose distinctive character and natural beauty are so outstanding that it is in the nation's interest to safeguard them.
“Considered to include some of the finest landscape in England – tranquil chalk downlands, ancient woodlands, river valleys, historic sites and much more it is the duty of the County of Partners of the North Wessex Downs AONB to protect and enhance the area for future generations and encourage the social and economic well being of those who live within it.”
Along with protecting the landscape the AONB works with local rural businesses to encourage a thriving economic community that will benefit the area by providing employment, high quality products and where economic activity is in harmony with the beauty of the landscape.
The Bountiful Landscape Market is a free event being hosted to highlight to the public that they live in an AONB, to publicise the work done by the association and to showcase the many and diverse rural organisations that have benefited from grants from the AONB
