Hungerford is to get its own weekly newspaper

The ‘Newbury Weekly News’ is launching a new edition, especially for the Hungerford area, next Thursday, February 16.

The ‘Newbury Weekly News – Hungerford edition' will have its own front page devoted to news from the Hungerford area, and there will more space for Hungerford area news inside, along with a back page slot for sports story of the week from the Hungerford area.
Hungerford area readers will be able to see more news and pictures from where they live, but in a ‘Get More, Miss Nothing' bid, the Hungerford edition will still contain all the important content featured in that week's ‘Newbury' edition too.
If you have a news tip, story, or picture you'd like to see published, please contact the Hungerford area reporter John Garvey, telephone (01635) 652528, email john.garvey@newburynews.co.uk.
And let us know if you have any events coming up – we'll put them in our diary.
News items, or diary dates, can also be passed to us by phone to the newsdesk on (01635) 564539, email newsdesk@newburynews.co.uk, or by post to the NWN at Newspaper House, Faraday Road, Newbury RG14 2DW.
Advertising inquiries can be referred to Debbie Pope, email debbie.pope@newburynews.co.uk, telephone (01635) 564593.
NWN editorial director Brien Beharrell said: “As someone who previously worked as the NWN's district reporter for the Hungerford area for 16 years, I'm delighted that we now have the opportunity to launch a Hungerford edition of the NWN.
“The NWN has been available in the Hungerford area since February 1867, and celebrates its 145th year almost to the very week of the Hungerford launch, so the timing to launch its first additional weekly edition – specifically for the Hungerford area – is particularly significant.”
Communities which will be covered by the new publication and be featured in the ‘Newbury Weekly News – Hungerford edition' are: Hungerford / Chilton Foliat / Stype; Shalbourne / Wilton / Great & Little Bedwyn / Froxfield; Aldbourne / Ramsbury / Baydon; Kintbury; Lambourn / Eastbury / East Garston / Great Shefford / Wickham.
"We now warmly welcome news from these communities – whether it is submitted reports and pictures sent in via the telephone, post or email, news snippets of upcoming local events, dates for our Hungerford area diary, or other newsworthy items to be covered by our staff reporters and photographers, or submitted by local people themselves,” said Brien Beharrell.
The new edition will be available from each Thursday throughout the Hungerford, Kintbury and Lambourn area.
