Hungerford teen handed public drinking ban
Ninteen-year-old Jordan John Hayman, of Coldharbour Road, must also keep out of the High Street Tesco store.
Victoria Griffiths, prosecuting at West Berkshire Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 14, said: “He was witnessed by the Tesco store manager to select a bottle of alcohol. He didn’t pay for it and hid it inside his jacket. He said he had been drinking strong cider with friends but
initially claimed he was falsely accused of theft.”
Mr Hayman admitted stealing alcohol worth £16 on October 26 this year.
The court heard he has previous convictions; that he is currently subject to a community order, which he has broken by twice failing to attend sessions, and that there are issues surrounding his alcohol abuse.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports and bailed Mr Hayman until December 5.
Conditions of his bail are that he must not be found drunk anywhere in West Berkshire and that he must not enter the High Street Tesco store.
