Hungerford's Bridge Street "perfect smile with a tooth missing"
Bridge Street in Hungerford is “like a perfect smile with a tooth missing”.
That was the opinion of the town council’s environment and planning committee on Monday, March 23, when members discussed ambitious plans to upgrade the semi- derelict property at number six.
Jeweller and goldsmith Greg Furr has applied for permission to demolish the unlisted building and build a new property with a retail unit on the ground floor and a two-bedroom flat above.
Gemmologist Rachel Furr, of Furr and Co, said previously: “It’s the most amazing opportunity to bring the entrance into Hungerford up to scratch. It’s let us all down for the last 25 years and I hope the people of the town will support the application.”
Town councillor Roger Thompson told the meeting: “It’s going to be so good for this town. At the moment Bridge Street is like a perfect smile with a tooth missing.”
District councillor Paul Hewer (Con, Hungerford) agreed: “It would be a marked improvement in that area of town.”
