Hunters wellies and jackets stolen from County Show
THIEVES stole several thousand pounds worth of Hunter wellington boots and jackets from a stall at the Royal County of Berkshire Show last weekend.
The offenders gained entry to the rear of the stall at the Newbury Showground between 5.30pm on Friday (20/9) and 7am on Saturday (21/9) by cutting the cable which held it closed.
They then made off with more than 30 pairs of wellington boots and 20 quilted outdoor jackets, which were all clearly marked with the Hunter logo.
Proprietor of the small family run business Sinclairs, Christian Sinclair, said: “We have never had this problem in the 30 years that we have been doing shows and it has made us question whether we want to keep on doing them.
“It has had a terrible impact on our business. The jackets had just been delivered and we’ve now got to find the money to pay for them, which won’t be easy as it was our last show of the season.”
Anyone with knowledge of the theft or of anyone attempting to sell on these items should contact PC John Goggin of Newbury police station via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
