Year 8 pupils at The Hurst School make a difference for Spotlight UK charity

Year 8 students at The Hurst School, Tadley, have raised more than £800 for Spotlight UK through a series of fundraising events, writes George Cummings.

On a ‘Belonging Day’, the school held a tug of war competition, as well as an Easter egg hunt for 191 eggs, to support the charity, which provides emotional and practical support for young people.

Head of year Cathryn Graham said: “I’m incredibly proud of our students for working together to raise funds for a local charity.”

She also praised Spotlight’s involvement, saying: “Spotlight representatives came in to chat to our students during an assembly, which really helped them understand how their involvement can make a difference.”

One representative, Michaela Riley, thanked the Year 8 students and promised that the results of their hard work, £830.39, will “go directly towards funding activities that support young people and their families, helping to boost confidence and bring communities closer together”.
