Illegally parked foreign vehicles 'never ticketed'

The admission came during a meeting of West Berkshire Council’s executive board earlier this month.
Kintbury councillor Andrew Rowles (Con), submitted a public question asking why the civil enforcement officers were instructed not to put parking tickets on foreign-registered vehicles.
The council’s portfolio holder for transport, Keith Chopping (Con, Sulhamstead), said that he had no idea why, but he would endeavour to resolve the problem.
“I have discussed it with the relevant officers and instructed them that they should now start issuing parking tickets to foreign registered vehicles, and we will see how it goes, and how much we collect from it over the next three months.”
Mr Rowles then responded: “Do you not agree that this puts the council in a very bad light when perceived by people who do have a parking ticket parked next to those who don’t?”
Mr Chopping agreed it did not look good for the council, and said that he looked forward to reading the data in December.
