Improvements made at Mary Hare
A recent Ofsted inspection graded the boarding provision at Mary Hare Grammar School as good and outstanding
MARY Hare Grammar School has improved its boarding provision from below the national minimum standards to good and outstanding, according to a recent Ofsted inspection report.
The school's previous boarding provision inspection, which took place in December 2008, was deemed ‘satisfactory', which meant the school fell below the national minimum standards.
At the time, the school's governors and staff agreed that the inspection process was flawed, however the report made six recommendations, including the redecoration and refurbishment of the boarding facilities, all of which have been met in the most recent recent inspection in January.
In six overall categories inspected, the school achieved five grades of ‘good' and one ‘outstanding'.
The Ofsted report stated that: “The strong care management team in post is committed to providing a good and improving boarding experience”, “Student voices are valued and individual difference is celebrated” and “Boarders benefit from the good working relationships between the teaching and care staff”.
Deputy Principal Peter Gale said he was delighted with the improvements the school had made.
He said: “This report reflects the quality of our care staff and the happy experience of our boarders. However, we now want to focus on being recognised as outstanding overall and we are pleased that the report comments on our potential for further development.
“The inspectors made just four recommendations and we have already written our action plan to address these.”
