West Berkshire mourns the death of Queen Elizabeth II

Our photographer Phil Cannings has captured some of the personal moments of reflection, as the district pays tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen died at Balmoral on Thursday and a period of national mourning is currently taking place.

It will end on Monday evening, once the Queen's funeral has taken place at Westminster Abbey, in London.

Flowers have been laid throughout the week outside of Newbury Town Hall, in Market Place.

Further tributes can be placed there until Monday, September 19, before they are removed on Tuesday.

The public are asked not to include wrapping with the flowers and to not leave candles or other items.

All of the notes and cards left with flowers will be scanned and added to the books of condolence from across the district.

These will be kept as a historical record and a copy will also be sent to Buckingham Palace.
