Also this week, new figures have revealed that First Great Western is the worst rail operator in the region for peak time overcrowding.
And independent passenger group Railfuture has revealed that, overall, passengers using Newbury station between 2005 and 2012 have increased by 61 per cent while further research revealed that more than 30 per cent of passengers who were quizzed in Newbury said they were unhappy with what they perceived as overcrowded carriages.
In other news, market stalls could pop up in Northbrook Street as early as the end of this summer, following an agreement to extend it between Newbury Town and West Berkshire Councils.
The draft agreement was signed on Monday night for parts of the Newbury high street to become home to a number of pop-up stalls during market trading times on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Meanwhile the hunt is on for the owner of a tortoise which was found in a garden shed in Bucklebury.
The Cottage Inn, in Upper Bucklebury, is currently housing the tortoise in its paddock, which is also home to goats, rabbits and chickens, but is appealing for anyone with any information on its rightful owner to come forward so they can be reunited.
