It has been revealed that Stax Leisure, which originally put forward plans, has entered into an agreement with Newbury Rugby Football Club to provide a new leisure centre on Monks Lane, although a formal planning application is yet to be submitted.
Also this week, a man who died last Friday when he was hit by a train close to Hungerford station has been formally identified as Fred Phillips, aged 83, of Hungerford.
The incident occurred at around 3.45pm, and the British Transport Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as non-suspicious.
In other news, a Thatcham family have spoken about the events leading up to the death of their father and husband - a man who they said “had everything to live for”.
Alan Mears, aged 53, was found dead in his home in Foxglove way on April 3.
