In this week's Newbury Weekly News
IN this week's Newbury Weekly News the full extent of the 2,000 home development on the rolling fields of Sandleford is being realised by West Berkshire Council.
The council has updated its policy to include additional access routes and provision for the thousands of schoolchildren it expects to come off the back of the development.
However, a Liberal Democrat councillor has accused the council of misrepresenting the facts to the public during an enquiry into whether Sandleford was an acceptable site.
Also in today's paper Newbury Town Council deputy leader Ruwan Uduwerage-Perera has blamed a "lack of support" as one of the reasons behind his decision to resign from his role after just 14 months in the role.
More on-street parking charges came into effect on twelve Newbury streets on Monday, which West Berkshire Council claim is part of an effort to alleviate congestion for shoppers and visitors to the town.
Motorists will now have to pay up to £3.50 per day to use the newly marked bays or risk being fined.More than 2,000 people joined a Norse invasion of Newbury at the weekend’s Waterways Festival.
The spectacle is a chance for Newbury to showcase its heritage as a canalside town and draws visitors from across the region.
