Woman dies from swine flu days after seeking help, Olympic torch joy and the irrepressible Cheggers

IN this week's packed Newbury Weekly News read the tragic story of how a Newbury woman suffering from swine flu died just three days after seeking medical advice.

Following the horror crash on the M5 last week we remember the incident on the M4 20 years ago in which 10 people lost their lives near Lambourn and ask the people of Newbury if they think the speed limit on motorways should rise to 80mph.

In a somewhat “celebrity” edition there are also articles on Keith Chegwin's busy year, a former Newbury College actor who has landed a role in Holby City, and a Private Eye special in-depth interview with creator Richard Ingrams and even a word from the magazine's current editor Ian Hislop.

Elsewhere, in Bucklebury a 10-year-old boy was excluded from school for typing “Bin Laden” into Google, and more on the story of an ex-Kennet School teacher who was struck off for inappropriate behaviour.

The Olympic torch is coming to Newbury, as are street pastors, so pick up this week's edition for much more on both of these stories as well as a two-page fireworks pictures spread all the usual arts reviews and listings.

And finally.. who doesn't want free petrol? Our readers, apparently. We are looking for FOUR winners in our petrol giveaway, so pick up a copy to see if it is you in line for a top-up in your tank.

The Newbury Weekly News is on sale every Thursday.
